Is it advisable to go for bypass surgery at the age of 75?!

Question: Define "advisable".

You see, it is totally an individual matter of the condition of the patient at age 75. Most people are retired, but not disabled. Bypass surgery is no longer experimental. There is a good prognosis for most patients, even at the age of 75. There is a quality-of-life issue of whether other medical techniques may be more or less effective (stents, versus medicine). There is the overall physical condition of the patient, and other possible complications. (Unfortunately, cost factors as well.)

But, since modern medicine has developed bypass techniques, the chances for a good quality of life long after 75 are now able to be achieved.

ask your doctor. if he can't answer that, find another one.

If you or someone you know needs bypass surgery at age 75...you should talk to your doctor about all the pros and cons of the surgery and the risks. You don't mention if you are talking about an intestinal bypass for weight loss, or if you are talking about a heart bypass.

nien, my advice for you would be to go to phoenixtears.ca

there my good man you will find something much better you may never need surgery or pills

What does your doctor say about it?

discuss this with your cardiologist -not Yahoo.

no, it can become worse since his body isn't functioning well anymore.but better to consult for a second opinion though.

its better to consult a doctor and ask his suggestion.

Of course it is, ....... - if your surgeon is ready, willing and able to do it.
Look at my Profile.

What's your alternative? Death? a few months or years at most of poor Quality of Life? There's no choice. GO FOR IT!

I shall never regret mine, nor will the love of my family, wife, kids, and Grandchildren.

my hubbies grandma had a triple bypass 12 years ago,, shes now 83 [fine!!!], she was 71 back then, thank god she did it cos shes added many years to her life xxxxxxxxxxx

good luck

Only a specialist can answer this question for you. There are risks involved in this surgery. A lot depends on your current health and preexisting conditions. Many people at this age come throught this surgery just fine. Others suffer major complications. It is base on one's current individual health. Kidney functioning, diabetes, etc. are just a few that could cause complications. Talk with your doc.

If you are able to afford it and think you will be better off after wards discuss it with your surgeon and family doctor and do it.

Age 75 is bit risky. What is the ejection fraction? How many blockages are there? Have you done the angiography? the report will show the EF percentage and No. of blockages with percentage. There are good ayurvedic capsules with proven result of clearing the blockages. Capsules like Rudved or suved or Rasoved etc are quite useful. Check in google for details.

It would depend on the complete medical condition of the patient and a doctor would determine if it would be too risky or not.

at the age of 75,all the organs in the body have worked for 75 years ,if you clean up the heart alone other organs will not co-operate..Doctors advise and your personal attachment to the person is essential.
