Fingers hurt after testing blood glucose for three days?!

Question: I am just doing a short term test. The first day was fine, but now my fingers really hurt, and I am jumping when I prick my fingers.

No one seems to comment on this, so I guess I am sensitive. I am trying to use different points and also on the side where I am told that there are less nerve endings.

I don't know how diabetics do this every day, on top of injections. It must be difficult.

Any tips?

go to the drug store and aske the pharmacist to recommend a different product. Some are more comfortable than others. Sore fingers are definitely a problem, which leads many diabetics not to bother checking their levels because of the discomfort. Try your thumb if you haven't done that. Or an ice cube to pop your finger onto after poking it. Good luck!

Do not prick your fingers directly in the middle. Prick it about a quarter inch from the middle of the nail. MUCH less painful.

There are other devices that can prick your arm instead of your fingers. I've had diabetes since I was 11 and now I'm 21. I got tired of pricking my fingers as well they were so sore I nearly cried. The machine called "free style" comes with a device you can prick your arm with and its defintly less painful because you have more options.

over years, callouses will develop easing some of the pain.

it has happen to me as well
but sticker has 5 levels, i usually go with 1 so it's less painful
also use alcohol after eat test.
you can get other machines where u can prick your forearm or anywhere to get blood not just fingers

good luck

Stick your fingers sort of on the side. Change fingers every test. Sorry, sore fingers are all part of it. You can get the monitors where you can get a sample from your arm, but my doctor said testing from your arm is not as accurate as your finger. Fingers show changes quicker than the arm
