If you are actually having panic attacks, they include hyperventilating. That's where the light-headedness comes from. If you're having to open the curtain, then put some music on (to distract you) and leave the bathroom door open a bit so that the humidity is dispersed. I know what you mean, and yes, I sometimes require a breath of cool air while I'm showering...the humidity feels stifling!

Any time you have symptoms that could effect your consciousness in any circumstances is well worth a trip to your family doctor. It could be something as seemingly minor as a rapid drop in your blood pressure. But that drop could be caused by any number of significant problems.

Go to your doctor!!!

Its hard to say what is going on and I'm not a doctor but I will offer you my own experience. I have panic attacks on the interstate. When were driving down the interstate I just feel so hot and sweaty, light headed and my heart pounds 90 to nothing. I am able to get over it by breathing deeply but sometimes I also wonder if maybe I shouldn't go see a doctor about it. Good luck and if you figure something out let me know. But at least you know your not alone.

If you are breathing heavy or hyperventilating, that is causing your lightheadedness. You're not getting enough oxygen. The next time this happening try to concentrate on slowing down your breathing. That might take your mind off why you're having the panic attack. It sounds like you're clostraphobic too because of the shower distress. Talk to your doctor. They can give you exercise to do to calm yourself. Good luck.

I have had panic attacks in the shower before. For me, I feel really vulnerable in the shower because there is only one exit, too many scary movies depict shower scenes, and of course, I am naked. I went to a doctor about it and they prescribed anxiety medication. I still had a lot of anxiety so I got my thyroid checked and I realized that I had a hyper-active thyroid. It is always good to get everything checked to make sure it is not a medical reason you are having anxiety. But this is something you should talk to a doctor or psychologist because it will be different for different people. I no longer have anxiety and I don't take medication, so it is something that you can overcome with counseling.
