Fasting to rid acne?!

Question: has anyone ever tried it? does it work?

I don't think that you should fast to get rid of acne, as you are trading one problem for another. You mind and body (including you skin) need nutrition.

Just cut out all of the friend foods, fattening foods, sugar, chocolate, etc. Drink a LOT of water. The idea is to have diet that is cleansing.

Vitamine A helps maintin skin integrity and mucous membrans. It can also function as a barrier to bacteria (which causes zits) Green leafy veggies, stewed tomatoes, carrots, melons

Vitamine b-12 (helps lower strees, which can be linked to acne) Fish, Soy milk, whole grains, green leafy veggies

Niacin and B3 (healthy circulation) Peanuts, Lean meats, avacados

Vitamine E. Almonds, Peanuts, Broccoli, Vege Oil, Wheat Germ

And one of the bese, Zinc. Zinc, boosts the immune syste. This is reflected in skin, and it also kills bacteria. Whole Grains, Nuts, Mushrooms

Again LOTS of water!

I always mince a garlic clove up every night and just mix it with a shot of milk (the milk helps it go down easier). But garlic has sooo many healing properties like blood circulation, strong heart, and it is one of the strongest bacterial killers you can ever eat. Do NOT cook it, or mix it with oil. The most opimal results is to mince it and let it sit for about then minutes. This gives the enzymes in it a chance to combine to make the chemical that your body can untilize. Take it at night before you go to bed. Don't take the Garlique Tabs (They are useless) I take a garlic clove EVERY night!

The Garlic is not only for your skin, but for everything. It will help you have a very strong circulatory system, a strong heart, and you tend to not get sick as easily. It was used as a natural antibiotic. I have even seen some people rub a garlic clove on a zit.

In terms of your face, clean it warm soapy water constantly, and then splash cold water on your face. And then use a piece of cotton with some Witch Hazel, as a natural astringent (not alcohol)/

When you're in the shower, use a luffa pad and exfoliate. You can also take some seasalt too. You can find products with ground bark or pumice (which i like the best) Exfoliating keeps the skin fibrant, as it brushes away all of the top dead layer of cells. And when you do that you don't have that top layer to hold in the dirt and bacteria that forms a zit. Just remember, clean clean clan. And always keep your hands clean if they are to touch your face. Mud maskes will also help draw impurities out.

Sometimes when your skin is purging, you'll notice more zits, because your body is just getting all of the toxins out, but then they'll go away and then you maintain it, in the ways that I suggested.

If you want to look into Accutane you can. Just ask a doctor what you can expect.

You can also use toothpaste to dry up a zit! Some people will tell you not to pop a zit, as it could scar. I never had really tender skin, so I did, just because I couldn't stand them and then they dry out and go away. Just be gentle about it.

Good luck. Please do not fast. If you do this then you'll just get zits again, when you start eating agian. So come up with a system that you can keep doing.

Good luck! =)

don't be dumb..please

ive never tried it but use proactiv. it helped me a ton!(:

I havent heard of that.... hmmm. i would just try staying away from fatty oily foods.

dont do it and if you have acne then no chocolate and wash your face alot

never tried it, i use proactive it works for me but doesnt work on everyone

no 2 get rid of yo acne u pop yo pimples and put toothpaste on it fasting does not work

I used to have terrible acne until I began eating once every three days and forcing myself to vomit when I did eat. Within a month, I had the clearest skin imaginable. Hey, it's worth a shot, what's the worst that could happen?

No.
I did the whole acne free in three days and it was a load of crap.
You eat apples for three days and drink water. It doesn't work.
It calmed the redness a little bit but that was it. I have started to eat more fruit and salad and that has helped a lot.

I dont know what that is but dont use proactive, i know someone that used it and their face burnt off from it. She had to be out of school for weeks. Shes fine now but still....

try different types of skin care products. don't fast. it doesn't work.

you're going to have to eat again eventually, and your acne will come back. Try changing your diet by drinking a ridiculous amount of water and NO chocolate. Also try washing your hair more often, and using shampoo with tea tree oil. It helps more than you would think. Also eating fish (especially salmon) is great for your skin. Annorexia is never a good idea.

i doubt thats gonna work. theres no proven link between what you eat and your acne. all those greasy food/ chocoloate associations are just myths. the main culprit behind acne is hormones. just try proactive or something.

That chocolate theory one girl said is wrong... just try eating healthier, and get proactiv (it works for most people!) if that doesn't work, i guess you just have to keep looking for products that do work for you, try arbonne too! It's all natural :)

The best treatments for acne are: reducing stress, cleaning your face regularly, using birth control (if you are female). After that the main FDA approved over-the-counter medications are benzoic acid (usually 10%) and salicylic acid (usually 2%). These can be found in various face wash products and acne medications like Clearasil or Neutrogena. Dermatologists may prescribe additional medication like Vitamin A analogues (e.g. Retin A or Accutane), as well as topical antibiotics.

Don't do it. Get your doctor to refer you to a Dermatologist consultant who will advise you on treatments for acne, which are far superior to the NHS options. I was advised to take Roaccutane for 6 months and it worked a dream. The whole process might be costly, but it sure is worthwhile. It worked for me after having over 6 years of seriously bad acne. Now I have to fight the girls off. Lol.

Hope this helps!!

fasting to rid acne?
never heard of it...it doesnt really sound like a good idea.
all i know is that if you avoid touching the area, you will stop irritating it and spreading the bacteria...and dont wash the area too much otherwise it will get dry and more irritated...
and when you do wash it, use warm water

umm.. that doesn't sound like a good method for acne control..
clean and clear in steps helps..
proactive is also great..
and so is murad

One huge mistake - please do not think that food intake is related to acne!!! It's an old-wives tale that is utter rubbish. Nor is "washing" (or lack of) the sole remedy/cause of acne. Its a skin condition that needs attention beyond such home-made recipes. Please see your doctor if you have a bad case or even a dermatologist.

I don't think it will help but I know sleep does try to sleep at least 7 hrs every night

It is true that your skin is a really large source of getting rid of the body's toxins, so I GUESS not eating would reduce the amount of toxins that the body exumes from the skin. However, not eating is very unhealthy for other parts of your body (and as a whole.. it sucks). I would suggest simply drinking water to flush out the toxins another way. I swear it helps!! Also, just use a gentle clenser, toner, and mosturizer. If you still have acne, visit a derm. I recommend asking for a prescription called duac to start with. That is, if you get to that point. Good Luck. I really hope this helps.

acne is a reaction of your skin from change in levels of hormons... food intake plays a role but its so small you cant really consider it an option

Yeah totally. Drink lots of water, dont eat!

You will rid yourself of acne, and at the same time essential fat needed to survive!

Not fasting, but the natural acne cure below is a more reasonable alternative.
