Thyroid lobectomy, icu?!

Question: I'm having a thyroid lobectomy in a few weeks and was reading other questions about the procedure already posted. Someone mentioned that they put you in the ICU as a routine precaution. I am only having half of my thyroid removed. The nurse didn't mention this to me and she was pretty detailed during the preop visit. Will I have to go to the ICU? perhaps that is only routine in some places

see now-a-days lobectomy has become that simple u don't have to worry for this...its only a general pre cautionary measure, for observation for a day...any surgery need this basic step even if it is the simplest surgery...don't get carried away by the icu room...don't get stressed before surgery...be cool...
