Question: We are hosting an awareness fair for the youth (11-26) in the area. We have an HIV epidemic that recently started. There is still a lot of stigma attached to HIV and Homosexuality. We are also introducing the effects of youth alcoholism and tobacco use.

Something that would grab attention is real statistics that they can "stare at" before anyone actually gets to speak!
Like having
"Cold sores ARE herpes!"
"1 in 3 people have herpes"
and
"1 in 8 people are HIV positive"
"50% of people who are HIV positive DO NOT KNOW"
written on the blackboard - to give them something to think about! BIG colored letters!
***The whole "real stories from real people" sounds kinda cheesy to me....
there's the possibility of being riduculed if you're talking....
and alot of times kids will think those folks are adults (who they never listen to!) because kids think they're smarter than us! Their outlook would be "This idiot caught it because she's stupid or slutty....but I won't - I'm smarter than HER!"
