Banana Allergy..?!

Question: I suddenly developed an allery to bananas about 2 years ago. It was really strange as i used to have one every morning for breakfast then suddenly my throat started to get really itchy and felt like i was choking. I love banana's and now i cant eat them at all. its a nightmare as most smoothies you buy have banana in them too. why did this allergy suddenly occur and will it ever go away?

Hun, srry to say this but: When you eat somthing over and over and over again, you have potential to get allergic to it. (Trust me, I would know.) I would ask an allergist if it could be the pestisides instead of the actual fruit you are allergic to.

If you want to get over it, get 'drops'. It is a little bit of what you are allergic to, take it every day and it will slowly make you immune to it. good luck!!

Allergies can come and go at any point in your life and they are strange as it is difficult to say exactly what triggered it. On my stag night I went for a curry with my friends and one of them suddenly had to go to hospital as he had right there and then developed a nut allergy when he had been fine all his life and always eaten any nuts he wanted. It could be due to something going wrong with your immune system and it sees it as a threat and tries to kill it off but no-one can really be sure.

sounds like your becoming a dyke

once aquired, its permanent!

Are you allergic to cooked bananas? If you are only allergic to raw ones, then you have oral allergy syndrome. It is linked with hayfever. I used to be allergic to nearly all raw fruits and vegetables. After being on allergy desensitation shots for my pollen allergies, my allergy to raw fruits and vegetables went away.
