Cyst on infant's head...remove now?!

Question: My daughter was born with a cyst on her heard (in the back, little to the side, about the level with her ear)
The doctor said he *thinks* its a dermoid cyst and they are usually removed to avoid infections etc. She is now just over 3 months old and as it has already grown 50% bigger so the doc has referred her to a surgeon (appt on March 31)
I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and how they would remove it?
I am torn, part of me wants to do it before she realizes she has hands to pick at it but the other side of me worries because I am strictly breastfeeding and that this may comprimise when I feed her on my right breast (because then the area is up against me)

If I were you I would go ahead with the surgery. i understand your concern about the BF'ing. I breastfed also, although didn't have to deal with this situation. You could pump that breast for a couple of days until the incision is less tender & then cushion it if needed (like with a bandage). You don't want it getting infected or this could hender your BF'ing efforts further if she requires hospitalization vs an outpatient procedure. I know it has to be scary, but this pretty routine, surgery wise.

It probably should go as soon as possible before it gets bigger.

if this is a dermoid cyst then there is nothing to worry about. however, if everything is not taken out it will grow again and develop to a new one.

My brother had to have a cyst removed from his back. I wouldn't worry, it's a very simple procedure. I'll bet you $1000 your daughter will be perfectly fine. :)

Go to the doc

uh why dont u go to the doctor urgent
