Is hemochromatosis a communiable disease?!

Question: No!!!! This is when the liver is unable to process all the iron in your body, and is unable to get rid of it. It is usually genetic, and mostly on the male side of the family. Men in these families generally have larger torsos and the area right beneath their xiphoids are a little prominent due to the liver being a little enlarged. Picture those guys you see who have bodies kind of shaped like apes whose bodies are rectangular, or those body types that have barrel chests/guts but not due to drinking beer and eating pizzas...
How do you treat it? Believe it or not, blood letting. See an internal medicine doctor. There are also meds out there and a bunch of diet recommendations. Good luck in your research.

No. It is a treatable hereditary disorder in which too much iron is absorbed. It is not communicable.

No. There are a variety of types of hemochromatosis. The most common ones are hereditary. Some types of hemochromatosis seem to be due to environmental exposure (for example, drastically increased iron intake in some cultures; or environmental toxins that damage bone marrow). But after a lot of reading of the scientific literature on this topic, I never came across anything suggesting that hemochromatosis is communicable.

NO
