Proactive makes my skin really dry. Help?!

Question: My skin is flakey with dryness around the area's i break out most in. I guess it's because i tend to use more of the proactive on those places. It's around my mouth area. I need proactive to get rid of my acne but in result, my skin around my mouth is so dry. What should I do?

Different acne treatments work differently for different people ;-) but I have compiled some info on Proactiv for you, based on reported experience:

Proactiv Negatives
===================

- irritating
- dry out skin
- expensive to keep having it sent to you month after month
- clear face up, but as soon as you stop using it the acne might come back
- it bleaches the cloth...
- doesn't seem to work as well on blackheads
- skin became darker
- temporarily red in areas
- slight burning sensation when applying toner/repairing lotion

Proactiv Positives
===================

- really does work
- clears your face up pretty quickly
- leaves your face feeling soft
- reduce the appearance of pores

it depends on how often you use it cut back some. like if you use it every night go to 3 nights until you can keep your skin from getting dry. and dont use the refining mask. thats probably whats making your face dry out the most.

yeah.. since it is oil free, it tends to do that.
so every night/after you use proactive, use a moisterizer on your face, like PONDS facecream. it works great, and after using it for a while, you should notice the mosture in your skin!! :)

Much love and hope this helps,

Stop using Proactiv! Sure it works, but it can cause side effects much like you're going through now. I've read it on many sites. You may need to cut down on the Proactiv then try using Acne Free Severe or just Acne Free. Or use something with less benzoyl

Hey Sara,

I used to have acne really bad and know how you feel. One day I was searching for acne cures and crap I found this blog http://www.AcneCuresForLife.blogspot.com haha( I bookmarked it lol )

Anyway I got the acne free product deal he recommends and my acne literally disappeared. It was crazy. The product i bought had a money back guarantee which is kinda cool too. I think it's only like $25 or something

Anyway, I hope that helps!
