Help, cracked lips not healing?!

Question: so on the 2nd, i came down with the flu, fever and all, for the next few days couldnt breath thru my nose and of course got really dry lips that kept spliting. i kept using blistex medicated ointment, my cocoa butter stick, carmex and my mary kay lip ointment which seems to be vasaline. nothing has helped this one spot on my upper lip. its not cracked anymore, but it feels like its this huge dry patch, almost as if there is glue or plastic there (like that stiff not moving feeling). its driving me crazy cause i can feel it whenever i move my mouth, drink, eat whatever.

what else can i do? nothing i've been using is seeming to work. usually if i have dry lips i can load up on the cocoa butter before bed and its fine in the morning. its been over a week now and nothing!

Put on some chap stick and take an old toothbrush and gently exfloiate the dead skin off your lips. Then reapply chap stick...

since your lips dont have sweat or moisture glands, its hard to keep them moist and looking "clean"

When in the shower or brushing your teeth. Use warm water and gentley wipe your lips with a warm cloth. This will help remove any access skin. Then use a dab of vasiline on both lips. Im know its not gonna taste good, but after a day or to of use you can go back to the normal chapstick. You want to minimize stretching the skin on your lips to allow them to heal.

Use the normal black label flavored chapstick. Ive found that the flavored ones dont work as well. Or use the tube based ones. This will help keep your skin from stretching.

i agree put something on your lips to soften the rough skin. chapstix or anything of that nature and try to remove it. maybe a hot towel for a few min. after you get it off its probly going to be a little tender and sore kinda like a burn or raw spot.. blistex and carmax will dry it worse and burn like crazy!! use medicated vasalin or neosporin it heal it . if that dosent work see a doctor it could be some kind of infection but i think if you can get the "scab" off it will be alot more comfortable for healing. best wishes

Burts Bees!!! Worked for me.

I just put on som vaseline & som glycerine.

Your lips are internal skin that is carried over onto the outside.
Thus, normally they heal quickly.
Elizabeth arden 8 hr cream heals even minor burns. However, i dont think you need to treat this just from the outside. You need to take supplements such as evening primrose oil. If you've had a cold, see your doctor as you could have a fungal infection that needs treating with antibiotics.

CARMEX...
