Can a person stop breathing for long periods of time when fully awake!?!


Question: Can or is it possible for a person to stop breathing when fully awake? I believe so! I get sleepy, tier, drowsy, unresponsive, and weak! Who I shut see? I am 43, 220lbs, 5'8" fair shape, no smoke. I have been having this stop breathing situation happening with out notice or reason the I can think! This happend at any time, suddenly I feel tier and realize I have stop breathing! Can not say how long I have stop, just that I have to force my self to breath!

Yes, it's possible. You may have sleep apnea. There are two types of apnea - obstructive (meaning that your throat is closing) and central (meaning the brain is the problem). The link below addresses obstructive sleep apnea, but if you have central apnea, then your brain is not functioning properly to make you breath. Obstructive is much more common than central, so just go in to get checked for obstructive first. You are definitely overweight if not obese.
