I am sorry that you have to suffer with this condition. Unfortunately, Fibromyalgia is still being studied, there is a lot that they still do NOT know about Fibromyalgia, but, from what I understand, they are getting closer. One thing that a couple of my friends (who were diagnosed with Fibromyalgia) claim to take the "edge" off the pain, is moist heat (such as a very warm bath, whirlpool, spa, or a pool of warm water) may help relax the muscles, because moist heat, unlike dry heat, quickly accesses the muscles via the pores of your skin (due to the moisture droplets). Also, if you do weights, try doing light weights, and do low impact exercises for your joints, such as the Elliptical machine, and swimming AT A VERY LIGHT PACE. I don't know your exercise regimen, but make sure you aren't over-doing it with your muscles, you want to sustain healthy muscle NOT destroy it. Also, all the narcotics that you have mentioned in your question, such as vicoden and percocet, or other narcotics are HIGHLY ADDICTING. Also muscle relaxers, like Soma, and Valum (Diazepam), which is a benzodiazepine, ARE HIGHLY ADDICTING, AS WELL, and it is important to try to find other alternatives as these pills can also have bad side-effects over time. Also, make sure you try to invest in a good, comfortable matress for your body, because that MAY help reduce the pressure on your pressure points, muscles, joints, and tendons. Good Luck

I may be way off base, so I apologize if I am incorrect. I know that fibromyalgia cause's lots of pain and I believe it is related to RLS also. Someone yest said that they were given Klonopin. You may give that a try. It's original purpose was to control seizures...but has now been given to people like myself for anxiety, which I realize is not your problem but it is a relaxant. Good luck.

I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for four years. I found very few pain meds that helped except for Ultracet. I liked it because it wasnt a heavy narcotic, and it really took the edge off without making me high. I could work ( I am a teacher.) I went through a period of severe pain, where it just hurt, hurt hurt. The tenderpoints ( always....used to that) my HIPS ( that was awful) my joints....I felt like I had gone thru bootcamp every morning. I KNOW how you feel. I am an athlete ( in my 30s and still playing softball/basketball) and I found that it hurt either way, so might as well power thru it. I found that once I got moving, it seemed to dull somewhat
( natural endorphins, maybe?) Coincidently ( or not?), I have also had several surgeries to remove scar tissue that has wrapped itself around my large intestines ( resulting from a c section) ALL my problems started after this first surgery ( I know they relate surgery/injury to Fibro symptom onset). I experienced vitamin/nutrient malabsorption issues related to this and also suffered an obstruction ( several) that had to be repaired. After each of the repair surgeries(3), my symptoms lessened significantly, only to return. Recently, my symptoms have returned, ( I just got up, and I hurt!!! I havent even been doing anything!) I started popping up all night long again, my sleep patterns are a mess, and I believe my intestines are once again being suffocated by wrapping scar tissue ( I wont tell you the symptoms of that, but use you imag) ANYWAY, I have found that taking a BUNCH of vitamins ( all researched to remove toxins, and they are the ones normally absorbed by the effected part of my large intestine) have improved my Fibro symptoms significantly in the last week.( I hurt, but not that deep, nagging pain even when siting still). WHICH leads me to wonder if Fibro is in fact related to toxins not being properly removed, causing a back up? I have found evidence of this on the internet. You say you eat healthy, as do I. However, if you are not properly absorbing the nutrients, what good does it do to eat well? I know it sounds weird to relate the two, but I am just asking you to really think about your other body functions and check that they are normal. ( I used to have hair falling out..before the first surgery, and weight loss...i dint know to relate this to mmalabsorption) This time I suddenly developed this horrible, weird acne out of nowhere, that the vitamins took right away. I researched it, and acne can be caused by internal toxins and malabsorption. Fibro is such a mystery. I hope you find answers. ( I hope we all do!!!)

My husband has fibro and he takes Ultram ER.

Lyrica is in the neurology category-a combination of the types of medications used to treat seizures.

Try soemthing in the SSRI family (antidepressants) especially Ultram (tramadol) which is specifically designed to help with pain-not mood. It took the edge off the pain for me.

My symptoms were complete reversed when I had a seizure. There is an experimental device called teh Vagus Nerve Stimulator. I was the first to get it and feel about 25% better. It has been used successfully with epilepsy, depression, and parkinsons. Basically it is a pacemaker for the brain. The one big thing I noticed is the pain meds actually worked-which they didin't before the implant---It is not yet available outside the trial-but may be soon.

For me it is a combination of lots of things from dietary changes, water work, supplements , medications , positive thinking, and DRibose. If you aren't familiar with DRibose try reading my yahoo blog. Many of the fibromyalgia treatment regimes are now including DRibose in their programs. It helps about 69% of the people who try it.

I have used Tramadol and Soma from Nrpharmacy.com
The combination together is very strong and works.

They came out with what Lycira? But it is scary, it says don't just stop or else you can get seizures.
