Would you rather want a cure for HIV/AIDS or cancer?!

Question: Why?

Answers: Why?

Cancer. We all have the power to prevent ourselves from becoming HIV positive, but cancer chooses it's victims very randomly. I would rather cure something I can not prevent!

Cancer, you can't prevent it

Both but if I had to pick Cancer because it's becoming the number one desiese to kill and you can't prevent it.

Cancer. HIV/AIDS has become a living chronic condition. Cancer, however, is still so uncontrollable.

HIV/AIDS.
Obviously, both are extremely painful diseases that both require a cure about now to keep the hope up in our society. I don't know how many more people I can stand to see get the bad news--for either one.

However, there are many more treatment options for cancer, even if there is not always a cure for many cases. But there are tests to screen for cancer and prevent its progression if caught early enough, and there are definitely people who have been so-called 'cured' of their cancer using the various methods available--that is, they go into remission and never encounter their cancer again, and live with a high quality of life! But HIV/AIDS doesn't have even ONE story like this--if you've heard of one, please let me know--I def don't know about all the options out there.
Sure, you can prevent it, but tell that to the EMT who contracted it on duty, or to the woman who got it from a blood-tranfusion gone bad. And it doesn't matter how it's contracted--it's a painful disease, either way. Don't give it the impression that it was "their choice".
Again, both are very painful diseases, but HIV/AIDS is a disease that you can hardly slow the progression of (I think there are a few cocktail drugs out there, but they cost A LOT and many can't afford the treatment), it has orphaned an unimaginable number of children, and there is NOT NEARLY the kind of support out there for AIDS patients as for cancer patients. It is still a stigma, taboo subject--we'd like to say that's not the case in the U.S., but think of job and even health care discrimination--the public's fear of the disease has made it really rough for AIDS patients. Some don't even tell their family and friends about it for fear they'll be ostracized--could you imagine going through that alone?
My mom is a dietician for HIV/AIDS patients and I've gone to work with her before. A lot of the people who come to see her at shelters are homeless and alone, relying on the government's help, but mostly private institutions to get by. They can't afford the treatment--so it costs them everything they own. I'm restless to get out there on the frontline to ensure some changes are made, so no one has to die of this painful disease again. It will happen. We're going to find the cure for both of them--be sure of that.

Cancer.

AIDS is a preventable disease, cancer is not.
