Scabies is not lice but can be treated the same as lice.
There are a couple steps to treat and eliminate scabies.
Scabies is curable so tell your friend not to get down if it doesn't work the first time. Just make sure he/she does everything properly.

1) LAUNDRY. This is very important. Wash all bed linens and dry on HOT cycle every 2-3 days. You can dry clean or store non washables (plush animals) in a sealed plastic (garbage) bag for 2 weeks.

2) Trim your nails

3)
Ask for a product that contains Premetherin (Nix, Kwellada). Ask your pharmacist, it's behind the counter. On day 1, take a warm bath but allow the skin to cool before application.

Then apply head to soles of feet and make sure you get all the medication into the creases of fingers, toes, armpits etc.

Leave for 12-24 hours then wash off.

RETREAT in 7-10 days.

4) LAUNDRY, I can't stress this enough, wash everything and put anything that is not washable into the plastic bag. Also vacuum the carpet and furniture.

I'm afraid that you have to go to the doctor - I read on webmd that without treatment they don't go away - and you need prescription medicine. The name is "Elamite".

Scabies is a form of Lice.
Use lice medication from store... and do house...pillows etc.

It can come from the ground, animals, un-cleanliness

You need a product called ELIMITE OINTMENT/CREAM. Ask your local pharmacy. It might need a prescription
