Should I go to work with Strep Throat?!

Question: I tested positive for strep, and the Dr said it was up to me whether to go to work or not. I work as a cashier at a local grocery store. The reason I am concerned is because I called out on Sat, due to a family emergency. What should I do??

You really shouldn't. When one is sick what the body wants and needs is rest. Plus, going to work puts you in danger of many more bacteria that could get you worse and cause you to miss out on more days.

Just stay home and relax...you have two good reasons for not going to work so don't worry much about it.

Hope you get better hun! ^_^

Absolutely NOT!! I think your employer would seriously let you off the hook on this one, it is highly contagious you could get so many people sick.. Touching peoples food and all that can spread it to there house.

no

no!!!!!!!!!!!

not if you have a fever !!! You are contagious

you are contagious until you have been on your antibiotic for more than 24 hours

Please stay home. No one wants strep throat and to some it is actually dangerous to contact it because of health reasons. It can be fatal to those with heart and kidney problems.

Call your job and ask your boss what he prefers you to do, that way its not like you are calling in sick It would be his decision.

OH NO NO NO NO, just take it easy and chillax

No, you shouldn't. You risk infecting many other people. That would be selfish. Call your boss and tell them what you have and tell them you won't be coming in.

Stay away from work and present them with the note from the doctor proving you tested positive with strep.

if you feel well enough, then go.

no strep is contagious...you shouldn't go to work.
you should wait two full days if you've been on meds since you went to doc.

no, then you'ld give it 2 other people. check out this link I found. HOpe that I helped!

I would say NO cause if you cough, or even breathe on someone they can get it

Do not go to work (or anywhere) with strep throat. The illness is very contagious and you should be put on medication such as erythromycin for at least two weeks in order to get rid of it.

Do NOT go to WORK! Other people don't want strep, its highly contagious and by you touching all there things you are bound to spread it. Stay at home, get a doctors note and everything should be fine.

Call and tell them you have strep and ask them if they want you to come in to work or not, that's what I did and they told me to come on in anyway

You have a very contagious virus. You shouldn't be around anyone for three days. Tell them if you come in you could give it to other employees then they will start calling in and no one will be able to work. Also, people don't perform their work duties well while they are feeling bad. Do they want your work to suffer because they made you come in? I don't think so.

no there are enough people running around passing contagious diseases to the public just give dr note to boss your job legally protected and if you lose your job so what manpower polls say there is over 5 million jobs sitting vacant in the usa and employers are hiring out of desperation

not until you've been on medication for at least 24 hours

NO! You must be on an antibiotic for 24 hours (sometimes longer depending on which antibiotic it is) before you are no longer contagious. As long as you are still running a fever you should stay away from people. Call work, tell your boss that you have it, and see what he wants you to do - unless he's a moron, he will tell you to stay home.

Yes go to work - dont be lazy. Any excuse. Stay off work if you are a news reader, tannoy caller or use a loud haler.
Dont try to speak for about 2 days and use a pen and paper to communicate.

have your dr. give u a statement and stay home. this is contagious, i don't know why the dr. didn't tell u this.
