I suffer from bad chronic allergic rhinitis. What long term strain is this putti!

Question: I think i have every possible symptom..sneezing, itchy nose, face, eyes, head, skin, ear canals, throat, seeping eyes, liquidy ears, lethargy, exhaustion, headaches, and nosebleeds. On a bad day, i may sneeze violently between 70-150 times - this is my rough estimate! - and i could sneeze about 12 times in one go in quick succession. It's very exhausting to say the least. (Frustrating/irritating/depressing..the list goes on). I am wondering what strain this may put on my body..i'm sure it must put strain on my heart and lungs. Any ideas? Also, what is it doing to my eyes when they itch and seep continuously? I've noticed that the walls of my nostrils have dried up over the years of wear and tear..this is of course compounding my problems as now there is no protection. I often resort to putting vaseline in my nose. Does anyone have any information on this?? Thanks. (p.s. i'm 26)

Are you taking medication? Check with your doc. There is surgery to alleviate that. also instead of using vaseline...use saline nose spray that you can get at any drug store. this also cuts down on the number of infections

Hi,
This sound particuly hourendous....poor you
I had rhianitus and the doc priscribed a steroid nose spray calld flixinase and it worked an absolute treat.
Not sure if your on any medication, but get yourself to the docs Pronto!
I really hope you soon feel better.

Pollen induced allergic rhinitis is not really in season at present, as that is likely to happen in warmer weather so it seems more likely to be inhalation of dust or some other substance. What is happening is the allergen causes you to have an exaggerated response through your immune system.
which is forming antibodies against them. That is why you get the symptoms described, but this should not really be putting a strain on your heart nor lungs..

These sorts of problems often run in families so do your parents suffer. Might be best to have a word with them?

But also, you really need to see your doctor to arrange skin tests to try to identify the allergen responsible. Once this is known you may then be able to take appropriate steps to minimise or avoid coming into contact with it. Most sufferers can be helped by taking antihistamine drugs which may help reduce your itching and get rid of your runny nose but your doctor will advise you about all that?
