Stupid painful cough!?!

Question: I've had a cough for a couple days now an it feels like my throat is kinda dusty feeling (no pain) but more or less the congestion is in my chest and when I cough the phlegm breaks up a little but it hurts when that happens...how can I get it to dissapate more? Ugh!
