What is wrong with me? Could this be cancer?!

Question: I am thirteen years old, five foot eight and I recently lost five pounds. (i am a girl) I now am at a weight of 127, but it is not steady because I weighed today on the same scale and I was 123. I am worn out after everything, I am tired after only being awake for a few minutes. I am bruising very easily and am covered with bruises. My stomach hurts whenever I eat anything, I get really bad cramps. I have been very pale for the last few weeks. What could be wrong with me? Could I have cancer?

I did happen to have symptoms like that with my leukemia (minus the stomach probs), but they could also be symptoms to a lot of things. It's much more likely that you're anemic.

Just tell your parents that you don't feel right and you want to get a blood test run at the doc's office. It'll ease your mind if nothing else.

Let me know how things turn out. Good luck with the appointment and thnx for the points:) Report It

  • Go to a doctor.

See a physician. It is probably something that can be easily treated but see a physician.

    Just check with your doctor...

Cancer doesnt have symptoms like that. You're probably going through pubrity or having your first period or something. I'd go to a doctor just to make sure though.

It sounds more like you may be anemic. Cancer in young people is EXTREMELY RARE. It does happen, but it's very unlikely. Talk to your parents and have them take you to the doctor. They will need to run some tests to figure out exactly what's going on.
