So im scared i might have a tumor?!

Question: idk like an hour ago i was pushing the hair back from my face when i felt a strange bump right below my ear. i felt the other side of my face, and it didnt have the bump. i told my dad and he got worried and said it might be a tumor or a cyst. my parents are taking me to the doctors tomorrow but im really scared. ive been crying for the past hour. im terrified of doctors, needles, and anything that will put me to sleep! my dad said they might have to schedule another appointment to get it removed and have me hooked up to IVs, depending on what it is. the bump is about as big [maye bigger] than a raisin or a small rock. it doesnt really hurt but it feels kind of strange. its right below my ear. does anybody know what this bump could be? and what the doctors would need to do to remove it? and also can someone tell me if it could possibly be cancerous?

Don't worry it's probably not a tumor and they won't inject you with anything when they'll check for it. It's probably just a cyst (it's a little bubble of fluid in between two layers of tissues). If you can move it by pressing gently on the sides it almost certainly is a cyst. And even if it is a "tumor" it can be benign (meaning it's not cancerous). But I honestly think it's a cyst so don't worry hun. And if that's the case they'll probably leave it there until it goes on its own so they won't use needles or anything.

It's possible it's just a lymph node. These get swollen when your body is fighting an infection. Have you been sick lately? Consider all the other possiblities before jumping to conclusions of a tumor. I hope you are well. Good luck!

I have a cyst in about the same area. Its been there since 1990. It is too close to an artery to have removed and it doesn't bother anything.

It COULD just be a zit. I beleive the ones that hang out far under the skin are called cysts. Just try not to panic yourself too badly over this. It could be a zit, a bite, a hive, anything! I can't exactly see it, or diagnose cancer, but I wouldn't worry about it. I had a really large bump growing in my ear lobe, and It sounded similar to this. It was there for like a year, and then i started messing with it. I relized it was just a blackhead! A very large one!

To me it sounds like nothing more than a swollen lymph node. A lot of times they go away on their own, sometimes you will need some medication. Just relax and think positive. The chances of it being anything really serious are small.

:):):) your dad sure knows how to scare you!!! Don't worry darling. due to your age, the chance of cancer is very low (at least not around your ear) depending on how the bump feels like, there are different things that doc might do. if it is hurting, then it means a simple infection and swollen lymph node. if no pain, it simply means some fat (lipoma) which will go away as you grow. I bit a dollar and a donut that the doc is gonna say: this is nothing important. keep your eye on it and if it grows bigger come back and see me again. If this is what the doc says then give me the best answer rating:):)

Ok, just calm down, take a deep breath, it's WAY too early to be worrying about cancer based on a bump you feel in your head or neck. There are MANY things it could be that are perfectly harmless, go to your doctor, answer his questions, let him check it out. He may decide to do a biopsy (which is really a quick, almost painless procedure - and you should not require an IV in most cases). I think it's certainly something that should be looked at, but the odds are very much in favor of it being harmless.
