Sick as a dog, do I leave work?!

Question: OK, so I am just miserable sick. I went to the doctor over lunch and I have a nasty flu. He said I am contagious and may want to go home for the day. On the other hand, my office is isolated from the main building and I work alone. I don't come into contact with customers and only rarely other employees. I don't share my desk, computer or phone, though of course I do use the same bathroom as everyone else. So I figure there's only a few ways I could make my co-workers sick. If I'm vigilant with the antiseptic spray, that should be okay.

But, I'm also absolutely miserable. I would love to go home, but I got promoted recently so I'm the boss now. The girls in the main office can take my calls, but still. This is only my second week in charge of my department, so I feel I shouldn't go home early. But then, I've already put in over 45 hours this week and my work is done.

So, what do you guys think? Should I cut out an hour or two early? I literally have NO work to do, but still...

Definitely go home. Explain to the other girls that you will have your cell available. Even offer to log into an IM program from home so they can IM you when/if there are any minor issues.

The flu isn't something to play with, it can turn into pneumonia if you don't take care of yourself... if you have a fever, you should go home... NOW

i'd go home. i have lots of work to do but i'm cutting out a little early myself just because it's dead at work since it's spring break and I have a long drive to visit my boyfriend after work. that's just my two cents if I were you I'd go - NOW even!

If I was as sick as you I would definetlygo home. you don't want to spread those nasty germs to anyone else.If your work is done I see no reason why you can't take a sick day, everyone else does it, so why not.

Go home. If you make someone else sick, karma will get ya. Besides, if you've got the real flu that's going around, you're going to be laid down in bed for a week. You need to get to the drugstore and get all the stuff you need to take care of yourself before you get really sick.

GO HOME. IF your truly feeling crappy, it's better to take care of yourself now and get rid of it, than to prolong the misery and if your feeling bad, your work will suffer. and sence you don't have any, your really not missing much. GO HOME.. TAKE A HOT SHOWER, PUT ON YOUR WARM PJ'S MAKE SOME TEA, TAKE A TYLENOL AND CRAW UNDER A WARM QUILT AND JUST VEG OUT.

:)

OMG, go home! You have or could get a Dr. note having just been there, turn that in with your leave slip and get some rest : )
