What are symptoms of type 1 diabetes?!

Question: okay, so yesterday in gym, we were swimming, and usually i can do a lap without getting tired, but yesterday i did. and then in the locker room getting ready, i almost fainted, i couldnt walk straigh, could barely see, and i was shaking. then i went to the nurse and she was surprised i even made it to her. then she asked if my fingers were numb or anything and i said no, but like ten minutes later they were, and she had said somehting about blood sugar. and then i went home, and i think a peed like 7 times in like 8 or 9 hours. and i have been eating a lot lately (even though im skinny, 5'6'' and 107.5 pounds) but then i weighed my self again this morning and i weighed 105.5 .... oh, and im 14... so what do you think it is, like do you think it could be diabetes ?

Sometimes thin people get type 2. But people your age getting type 2, especially if you're thin, is extremely rare. I would say that you're more at risk of type 1 if you're having symptoms.

What you had in gym does sound like low blood sugar. I get it a lot, even though I'm not diabetic, and I have all my life. It's just one of those things. And people who have exercised hard sometimes get low blood sugar, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

Now peeing all the time, that's something else. After you start peeing all the time, do you get excessively thirsty? Or are you drinking the water first, and then peeing. There's an important difference. If you have diabetes you are peeing more because your body is trying to rid itself of the excess sugar and ketones in your system. So you will begin peeing a lot, and then you'll get thirsty because your body is losing all that fluid. If you're just thirsty and drinking a lot of water, and then you're peeing, then that's normal.

And as far as the weight loss ... have you lost a great deal of weight recently? I wouldn't worry about that small difference between night and morning. Especially if you're peeing a lot, then that difference in weight only means you're losing water weight.

But if you're worried, you should definitely get yourself tested. The test is quick and easy. They just need the tiniest bit of blood from a fingertip, and then it takes 5 seconds for the meter to give you a result. Actually if you have a friend or relative with a glucose meter, they can test your blood for you. Best time to test is first thing in the morning before you've eaten anything, that will give you the most accurate result.

You do have common symptoms, You could also just be fighting off a cold. Regarding diabetes, the weight loss is not to drastic. Most diabetics lose a lot more. You could have just lost water weight. Swimming could cause you to lose the weight, and cause you to be hungry more often and going to the restroom could be caused from eating more. But then again you could have diabetes. The symptoms are uniform with many different things so someone can not say if you have it or not.

It could be diabetes, but the only way you can find out is if you go to the doctor.

That's what it sounds like, but I would go to the doctor and get checked. Signs. Blurred vision, nausea, weakness, dizziness, urinating a lot, and hungry all the time.

Okay so we're actually learning about blood sugar and diabetes and such in school right now, so maybe I can help.

Symptoms:
-high thirst
-going to the bathroom a lot
-poor vision
-tiredness
-ketone breath
-muscle wasting

Type 1 is often inherited, so if anyone in your family has it, you have a higher chance of having it. It also could've been triggered by a virus.

I'd suggest a visit to your docter ASAP.

I hope this helps! :]

That sounds more like low blood sugar, but the weight lose and frequent peeing is signs of high. The only way to tell is a test from the Dr. office while fasting, ( no eating for 8 to 12 hours before test. ) Also at 14 it could either type 1 or type 2 get tested soon it is for the most part painless and better to know for sure then not to know and end up in coma for 3 weeks like my son did.

I do that a lot. I don't know much about type one diabetes. But you might want to get it checked out. Come to think of it... so should I.

Some of the symptoms are increased thirst and urination, skin paleness, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and extreme tiredness.

I would reccomend that you go see a doctor to get tested for Type One diabetes.

Although you do show some symptoms that are common with diabetes type 1, there are probably also a host of other conditions that it could be related to. You really should consult with a physican to run some test to confirm. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing, but best to get checked. If you are looking for more information on symptoms check out.

Hey It isn't just fat people that get diabetes. I only weighed 103. I know lots and lots of thin people that got diabetes. The numbness is something you get when you have had the disease for a while.. It could be lots of things.
