I'm not familiar with what a sgpt is. But a blood sugar reading of 248 can be dangerous. Your other responder, babysparkle, has no idea what she is talking about. I swear, some people come to this forum and give out the worst information. They need a contributor label that says "stupid" for those people who consistently give out bad answers.
Sorry for the rant, it's just the really bad answers really upset me sometimes. People come here for help, I try to only give out information about things I know about.
My daughter is a type 1 diabetic, and she gets up to 248 at least a couple of days per week. Since she's so young (she's 2) they keep her blood sugar range higher (100-200). And she is fairly happy and healthy considering.
But - when your sugar gets that high you need to start checking for ketones. You can get urine ketone strips from the pharmacy with or without a prescription. Follow the testing instructions on the label exactly. High ketones are part of what cause diabetes complications. And having them for an extended period can quickly lead to ketoacidosis, which is immediately life threatening.
