My little cousin keeps on throwing up after she goes out into the cold weather?!

Question: She's 6 years old and she got slight pneumonia two months ago and now everytime she goes into cold weather, she ends up throwing up after the next meal. When she got the slight pneumonia her doctor said she also has asthma and she uses an inhaler. She's been coughing a lot too, if she goes into cold weather or is hit by fan wind for too long. Should we take her back to the doctor?

Sounds like her asthma is not under control. You need to talk to the doctor about a preventative treatment like pulmicort and or singulair at least until summer. Although exercise is important when someone has asthma, sometimes it can be triggered by running around alot, weather, wind, pollen, allergies, the list goes on and on. In the mean time she needs to take her inhaler every four hours for the next two or three days to get her back into control. Although the inhaler isn't a preventative, you can prevent her from having these attacks if you give the inhaler regularly just until she gets back on track again. Singulair and pulmicort is quite expensive but it works well although I don't recommend taking it all year long, just during the seasons that affect her the most. All that coughing is what's making her throw up. She needs to go back to the doctor for sure to get a follow up and talk about another treatment for her and the doc needs to educate on asthma and treatments and preventative methods. Do you have a nebulizer (breathing machine)? That works better than the inhaler, especially at her age. You can use the nebulizer at home and take the inhaler when you go places or for school, etc. Also get a spacer for the inhaler which helps get into her lungs better. Poor baby I hope you get her taken care of. Asthma isn't fun when it's not being controlled.

have her parents follow up with her pulmonologist.
