What is the doctor going to do?!

Question: 2 weeks ago, I developed what appeared to be an infected hair follicle about 6 inches below my arm pit. I hot packed it and "popped" it an there was quite a bit of nasty yellow drainage- more than from a pimple. It all dried up and even though there was a hard bump there, I figured it would go away. Its about the size of a nickel. Bigger than a pimple.
I noticed this same bump is now swollen up again, and now its painful, so once again, I ran really hot water over it in the shower this morning for a few minutes and pushed drainage out of it. Same bump-same spot. I had a biopsy in this area over 20 yrs ago. Its in the line of the scar.
Will the MD put me on antibiotics or lance it open? Ever had this before?

Sounds like whatever it is, is reoccuring. It the wound is small and the surrounding skin is not infected, your likely not going to get antibiotics. It could be a folliculits which at times needs to be drained. If it persists, you may need surgery to remove it. Keep with the warm compresses, try not to touch it with your fingers, as you may be introducing more bacteria to the area. If you overweight, weight loss may help. Keep the area dry as well. Good Luck.

If it is recuring at the same spot, it may be an infected sebaceous cyst or something like that. It needs check up.
All the best!

Sounds like chronic recurring hydradenitis suppurativa. I'm sure antibiotics will be prescribed and surgical treatment may consist of a wider ressection to remove all chronically involved tissue.
