OK! These days I am sorry to say but doctors have a tendency of prescribing broad-spectrum anti-biotics without going in for a diagnosis of the problem. Anti-biotics do work when there is a proper diagnosis. If it is a viral infection, then anti-biotics will not work. You need something which works on the virus. Now with the symptoms you describe, I would say you go to your doctor and get a complete work up done. By that I mean a complete blood profile, urine analysis and culture ( to pinpoint the growth) of any bacteria or virus, keep a temperature check specially in the afternoon, and a must, is a chest x-ray. If you have been having them once every two years also it is a must. These days Tuberculosis is on the rampant. Don't misunderstand me! If you feel tired and the tiredness affects your legs (the lower legs) it is worthwhile having a chest x-ray. Apparently it may be just a chest infection but without proper diagnosis which is the name of the game, it would be futile to take anti-biotics because they have to be specific to the problem you may be having. And if you have not had a chest x-ray done in the last few years, it is a must. Remember, recurrent cold and cough can be the result of Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Tuberculosis (God Forbid), and even viral infections. Green phlegm is something which occurs in Bronchitis and the common cold. If you have incidents of common cold three to four times a year, a chest x-ray is a must. As you say your physician has given you anti-biotics and they have not worked, ask him to refer you to an infectious disease doctor, if your symptoms do not go away. In the meantime, you must take vitamin C 500 mg twice a day, morning and afternoon with lunch and breakfast, calcium with vit.D a good brand like Oscal or Caltrate, and B-complex all with food mmorning and lunch that will help you. Take Vit.D fat free milk one glass whenever you can with fresh fruits and vegetables, and minimise on your meat consumption for the time being. And one more thing. Ask your doctor what the diagnosis is. If he says infection, ask him what infection, and why is it going on for such a long time. If you don't ask they never tell you and it also puts them on the alert ( you know what I mean ) . You will find improvement with the vitamins, and cure with the treatment the doctor give you. Tell him everything. Describe your condition. You are paying him his fees and you have the right to ask him all questions concerning your health. Numbness of the hands may be the result of the infection you are having unless you have been having that since a long time. If you smoke, stop it, right now and for good. Do some yoga and deep breathing which always helps. And I wish you all the best of health.

The flu will last a while -- did they test you for it?

Atleast you got antibiotics,I was diagnosed with a viral infection the day after xmas, the doc said he couldnt give me anything for it except some cough medicine which ended up costing me 70.00.it took 5 weeks for it to run its course ,then the following week,i caught a damn cold!

opinon about what is going
on.

i was sick for 8 days and my mother was yellin and screaming at the doctor and demanding for a antiboitic!
it depends what kind u get
i suggest zithromax
it works very well

Sounds like you have that bad strain of flu that is going around! There's been schools closed down because of this and daycares, etc. It lasts for about 3 weeks and no antibiotic seems to touch it. If your not feeling better in a few more days, you should have your Dr. check you again. I got some cool advice from a Great Aunt who told me to put Vicks Vapor Rub on my feet and then cover them with thicker socks and wear them to bed. So I did this for two nights and by gosh, it helped!! Feel better soon!!

do this at home c if help any ...........

Taking aspirin with coffee can really make the aspirin more effective. It makes it work faster and better.
Vinegar and Water: Boil Vinegar and water, cover your head with a towel and sniff the mix. This helps with sinus headaches.
Run your hands under hot water, this can also be an effective way to stop a headache.
Lavender Oil: Try Lavender Oil for curing headaches fast. It is a very famous headache reliever and is recommended by many doctors for instant relief. Make sure you don't use a product with perfume oils or Lavender scented fragrance oils.
Sleep on your Back: Headaches can be caused by sleeping in an awkward position - even on your stomach, because the muscles in your neck contract. Sleeping on your back is the best thing you can do to avoid this type of headache.
Ginger root: Go to any grocery store near your house and buy a Piece of ginger root, grind a 1 inch piece up and add to any type of juice. Drink one full glass of this juice everyday. Great in preventing Migraines.
Roll your Noggin: Rolling your neck in each direction. It will help from headache.
