Why does alcohol cause asthma attacks?!
Question: I had 5 drinks that contained malibu rum and juice. Started coughing after my last drink and am having a hard time breathing. Why does this happen when I drink?

it could be something in the juice. Asthma attacks are brought on by a number of things. Watch what you are eating or drinking at the time an attack comes on. Things like peanuts, dust, cigarette smoke, cockroaches, certain laundry detergents/cleaning products, perfumes, grass/pollen, shellfish and numerous other things can trigger an attack. I used to have asthma but since I had my double lung transplant I was cured. (I have Cystic Fibrosis.) Just keep a journal of when you have an attack and what was near you or what you ate/drank at the time.
alcohol is a depressant...doing everything is a little more difficult when you are hammered. Sound like you have asthma at other times too..not just drinkning.
