Stomach virus or poisoning?!

Question: Last night I was real tired & achy, and had NO appetite, I thought I might be coming down with the flu, though there was no nausea or vomiting.
I generally feel better this morning - still a little tired. The thermometer says I have a temp of 100.0 though I don't feel feverish. No cold-like symptoms at all. I still have no appetite and have occasional diarrhea. THe ONLY thing I can think of is that I ate something for dinner last night (spaghetti & clam sauce) that I got food poisoning from, yet I've had little nausea and no vomiting. Does this make sense? I'm supposed to go out tonight (in about 8 hours), how can I tell if it's safe?

Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea that develops within hours of eating something is suspicious for food poisoning. This condition is dose-related (depends how much of the bacterial toxin or bacteria you consumed), so it is possible to have a very mild case with only nausea.

Influenza caused body aches, fever, headache, cough , weakness, malaise and occasionally vomiting. Influenza is a longer illness-----usually 4-5 days so getting better so quickly makes this unlikely.

It is much more likely that this was related to something you ate.

Without being a health professional, I would assume it's food poisoning. Sounds pretty mild though.

If the diarrhea gets worse, drink fluids with electrolytes to keep your body hydrated and take it easy for the next few hours.

If you're still feeling a little seedy, best not to go out, or keep some immodium on hand :)

It's probably going to be hard to tell for sure if you are regular sick or food poisoning sick. I would stay in tonight unless you're feeling much better.
