Can you sign to protect cancer patients from insurance not caring?!

Question: insurance co.'s are trying to make masectomys for breast cancer an outpatient procedure. it is very painful with difficult after surgery care. patients really need 2 days. they are trying to pass a bill in congress right now to secure this. the petition below is through lifetime tv's website. you could also write your local congressman, which would be more effective. i'm tired of insurance not wanting to pay, especially when a person's life would be in danger. thanks for clicking on the link below. (or cut and pasting it)

I will definitely sign the petition too! I'm so tired of the paper pushers telling doctors how to treat the patient when they have no medical degree! Put the doctoring back into the doctors hands and minds and tell the insurance companies to back off!

I signed the petition. I do believe they have to stop this. I had a horrible experience with it done at an out patient surgery center. In my nine am out before noon. I was hurting and they were irritated with me. Everyone else at the surgery center was leaving with a patch on their eye.

I believe that insurance companies have been increasing use of home care agencies and decreasing hospital stays due to extreme difference in costs. I don't think this bill will be blocked as it has support from the health and government interest.
On the bright side though, is that home care is growing and there are very competent Rn's in the field. They will come to your home and give care, as well as instruct caregivers in properly caring for their loved one.
If there is not a competent caregiver available, they will continue to come and give care and can arrange for other services, such as a home health aide, etc...
Also, there is a greater risk of infection by staying in the hospital vs being at home in our own environment. Please research this more as it will decrease your anxiety over this matter.

This petition has been circulating for years. Having had breast cancer, i was much happier being in my own bed the night after surgery. Than being in a hospital environment where there is noise, they wake you at 3 am to take your temperature and check your blood pressure.... I used to work in nursing too so hospitals aren't a scary place to me.

Having lost someone very close to breast cancer, I will not only be signing it, but passing it along. Thanks!
