What is wrong with my daughters navel (post piercing)?!

Question: She is in no pain, no fever, no rash, no nausea. But she got her belly pierced around dec. 29, 2007 and all of the sudden she had a lot of discharge from her navel area. I looked at it (the under part of the piercing) and it looks like a little pouch, bubble that is redish and it is leaking fluid. Is this okay? I am not sure if that little bubble was their all a long or not. I don't think so because the piercer looked it over and he did a good job.. any ideas??

That isn't okay. I have my navel pierced, and many other piercings. It may just be a small infection. But some tips to help it go away and stay healed are....
Wash it a few times a day with dial or an antibacterial soap. Don't overwash it though, that will make it dry.

Also buy some sea salt from the grocery store and mix it into warm water.... you can either put it on a cotton ball and place it over the bump for a few minutes or buy those little cups and mix the warm water and sea salt in that and have her lay down and hold the cup over the piercing so it can help heal the bump. Have her do this a few times a day too. The sea salt improves healing a lot!!

If it doesn't start to show any progress within 4-5 days, have it checked out by a doctor, she may need an antibiotic. She should be okay though! I've had those bumps like that on some of the piercings in my ears. My piercer told me to use the sea salt along with the antibacterial soap and it worked very well! Good luck!!

i dont know. maybe its infected. make sure shes cleaning it regulary and if it gets worse or doesnt go away make her take it out.

maybe a keloid?

There may have been some trauma to the area. Since it has already been a few months with no problem, just drain the fluid and apply an antibiotic ointment. If there is pain, or redness that does not go away, remove the peircing and see a doctor. She could also be alergic to the type of metal, although that seems unlikely.

sounds like an infection

its infected. peroxide. soap and water. neosporin. She may need antibiotics...see a doctor if it appears worse in a couple days.

its infected, she is suppose to put hydrogen peroxide and sea salt on it daily for a few weeks.

A piercing may take a year to truly heal. She should soak it every day with warm water and sea salt. (put the saltwater in a cup, turn it upside down on the belly, lay on your back for 15 min)
She should also spray the piercing with Bactine as she wiggles it in and out of the hole.

My piercing was also well done, and took a while to heal. It's just part of the price.

I had my navel pierced for about six months and it never completely healed. Try neopsporine every few hours or bactine. It could be that she is allergic to the metal that was used. It does take longer to heal from having your navel pierced than it does for ear piercings. Partly because your clothes rub on the navel ring and can prevent it from healing as fast.

It's probably infected. Nothing to worry too much about. I have mine pierced and it never happened to me but my best friend has it done and hers has gotten infected 2 times. She just continues to wash it with Dial soap at least twice a day and it eventually goes away. I wouldn't go to a doctor or anything unless it starts to hurt really bad or something.

You can also go to the place where she got it pierced and they will be more than happy to give you free advice about it. Good luck!

Have it looked at by a doctor, as the piercer does not have a medical degree and probably would not know what is going on. It sounds like an infection, which does not always cause the symptoms you mentioned until it is well involved. Unless you want to risk your daughters health, have it checked.

the piercer doesnt no jack. go see a doctor that what we did for me sister. good luck to her and you

sounds infected it would be a good idea to take the ring out.

its probably infected
i haventhad a belly peircing but when i got my nose peirced the same thing happened, it was fine but a few months later it started getting a weird bubble inside my nose and its cause i stopped taking good care of it, i still took care of it but not as much, if it still stays for another few days id say take to the doctor. in the meantime keep applying the liquid they give you to put on it and DONT touch it with dirty fingers.
