How bad are biopsys?!

Question: I am going through a medical mystery right now. So far the doctors have ruled out some diseases but we are left with one.; lymphoma. I have all the symptoms and such. On March 31st they are going to a biopsi on the lymph glands/nods in my neck where they found numerous black spots and such. How bad is that going to hurt? Will they put me to sleep? I am terrified of needles and I just want to know what to expect. And how long will it take to get the results?

Any advice would be great.
Thanks!

You will not even realize it's going on, while it's happening, :) You will be "Out-Of-It" hun, Not to worry, :) And no, you will not feel a thing, and they do not hurt what-so-ever. They take such a little piece you wont even notice afterwords. It will not be sore or anything, I promise you! The only thing you may feel is the needle "Prick" when they start the I.V. in you, and that is it, seriously. It's nothing to be afraid of at all, you have my word. Besides the I.V., you dont feel a thing, nothing at all, not during, or after. I had 4 done, so I know. Not just saying this to make you feel better. The results vary on what they are testing for, But regardless of what they are testing for, No-More than 2-week's tops. Can be a soon as a week. Anyways, Your going to be fine, :) And I hope your results turn out to be just fine as well hun, :) We'll say a prayer for you, :) You Take care

I`ve never had a biopsy of a lymph node, but I have of my stomach. I was sedated but not asleep, the procedure was totally painless. I`m sure the same will be done for you. It would have been wise had you asked the doctor what to expect, it would have eased your anxiety. If a needle biopsy is done you need only a local anesthesia, if the node is to be opened or removed, then a general anesthesia will be used and you will be asleep. Don`t fear the procedure, the results should be back in 2/3 days. I wish you luck in their findings.
