Chest pain in 18 year old?!

Question: for the past..10 minutes, I've been having a sharp-ish chest pain. It feels like its a little hard to breath, but my breathing pattern has not changed. It started being left sided,, pretty much right on my heart..now its a little more central, but still mostly left sided. Its not terrible pain..about a 2-3/10. But its bothersome. Several years ago, I had an ultrasound on my heart because they heard a murmur. I was told there was a small hole and there was nothing to worry about. I get these pains every now and then, but not all the time. Normally I'm not doing anything strenuous, just like sitting at my computer or lying in bed or something. Is it possible to develop angina or have a heart attack at this young an age? Also, as an added note, I do have a family history of heart problems. Should I be going to see my doctor? OH, and I'm on antibiotics (tonsillitis) right now, could this pain be the cause of the antibiotics?

I'd be calling my doctor if I were you. It is possible to have a heart attack, even at 18 (My first heart attack was before I even began elementary school, so it is possible.)

You might want to consider taking aspirin or something, however, call your doctor first and see what he/she thinks before you take ANYTHING.

I really don't think the antibiotics would give you chest pains, I've never ever had that experience with them and I've take a lot of antibiotics.

It may just be the heart murmur, but you won't know until you see your doctor.

Best of luck :)

The only thing about chest pains is that it could be anything- you could be having anxiety pains, your back could be out - sounds crazy but does cause pain in the areas your explaining. The best thing is to call the doctor or I prefer to call and talk to the nurse first about troubles then go from there. A good website for questions about health and other concerns is - www.webmd.com it's pretty helpful. Hope you get better!

it s rare to have heart attack in 18 years old but it s possible . especially if u have positive family history. u have not mentioned if u have positive history for Ischemic heart disease or other types of heart problems.mostly chest pain in young people like u is resulted from musculoskeletal or anxious disorders.i suggest u to visit a doctor if ur pains continue.a physician can rule out the cardiac chest pain with simple tests like STRESS TEST which is completely easy to perform

It could be caused by your cell phone or computer. This probably explains why young people are suffering heart attacks today.

Call your doctor. They would know what to do.

You should go get checked out because of your past history and your family history.

Does this pain feel like it is affecting the base of your tongue, down by your Larynx? If so, drink a glass of water. if the pain subsides, it is not a heart attack. If it continues, you should call a doctor.
