How to determine head lice on a child who has very dark hair color?!

Question: Take them to a special lice place. Licenders is one of them, I think. If you don't want to do that, then go to the drug store and but the lice stuff. They usually come with special combs that will help you get the eggs and lice out (in your case, if thier is something on your child's head it will come out on the comb). If you do this and their are eggs and lice, take them immeditely to the lice place to get their heads professionally cleaned. Good luck!

Look in at the roots of the hair, especially at the base of the head. If you see little white things or eggs then it is probably there.

Comb the head lice out.

Just use a black light in a dark room and they will glow a whitish color!

the color of lice kind of blends with the hairs color... if you see little bumps on the hair shafts, usually up near the scalp in areas where the hair gets the oiliest and it is warmest, run your fingers on them and if they don't move and/or come off, they are lice. the hair will usually feel rougher than normal.
the lice eggs attach to the hair and they don't turn white until after they hatch... until then, they are pretty much the same color of the hair... the little chameleons!

well i'd assume the darker hair color would make the eggs easier to see becuase theyre white..

Get the childs hair wet, and use a comb to separate his/her hair. Hope that this helps!!!

Look for the white colored nits. These look at first like dandruff, but don't dislodge as easily. They are actually the egg sacks that are stuck to the hair fibers, and they are usually the first indication of head lice.
As you then begin to inspect closer, you may even see the insects as the try to hop away from your "invasion".
Good luck! They can be a real hassle to get rid of, so I hope that the child does not have them. If he or she does, I found the product "RID" to be helpful- but also you will need to get a spray to use on carpets, mattresses, etc.
Mrs Reznor is right, the unhatched eggs are the same color as the hair, but they hatch after only a week or so, and then they are quite visible - the downside is that then the infestation is worse than before as well.
