Ring worm....help!?!

Question: Well i just recently had some one visiting my home who stayed for a few days. She had a bald spot in her head that she was going to go get checked out. She had just noticed it ..... and no lie the bald spot was as big as a silver dollar on the side of her head! Anyhow, I just found out through her sister that the doctor said she has ring worm! I'm pregnant and I also have two small children, could anything happen to the unborn baby through this bacteria?

I tried calling my doctor but he's ouot of town until tuesday, which is when my appointment is for.

Anyone have any info?

Ring worm is harmless during pregnancy. It's a fungus, not a bacteria. It is also a local infection, not systemic. It affects only the area where the ring worm is, and has no effects on the other parts of the body, internal organs included. It can be treated with over-the-counter creams for athletes foot. It is highly contagious, so you should be on the lookout for signs and symptoms in your kids and your self. It usually manifests as a slightly raised, red ring. It may or may not itch. So don't worry, you, you children, and your unborn baby will be just fine!

You are fine. It is not bacteria it is a worm.

ring worm is a fungi...and i think aslong as you keep them clean then you really shouldnt have anything to worry about... but there are some topial ointments like Tinactin, you can get just in case

Wash things she came in contact with good.
