Good question. Wheat and Oats are frequently used in lotions, lip balms, shampoos and other personal care products. Both Crest and Colgate promote that they are gluten free (on their websites). I don't have it in fronto of me but I believe Tom's natural toothpaste says that it is gluten free on the box. But yes, some brands of toothpaste do contain gluten. A great source of gluten info is http://gfcf-diet.talkaboutcuringautism.o...

I hope this helps.

You can check the ingredients on the toothpaste box and/or tube when you go to the pharmacy and grocery store.

i just looked on my toothpaste ingredients
no gluten

Yes, just about anything can contain gluten, makeup, lotions, percription drugs. The best way to find out if your brand of toothpaste is safe is to call the company. I use colgate because I know it's gluten free, but you should always check the labels and make sure they haven't changed their ingredients. Always be careful if the box has changed, or it says "Now with scope" or something like that, usually that means you have to start all over and make sure they didn't add anything you can't have. Frankly I don't like dealing with companies who don't know about gluten so when I call someone and ask if their product is gluten free and the person on the phone says "What? Glucose free" I usually forget about it. Now since gluten allergies are becoming more and more "popular" companies are starting to take notice, you will find when you call them they know exactly which person to have you speak to, or they can answer your question directly. As always read ingredients, and for extra assurance call the company. And out of habit always check the product everytime you buy, just incase they have changed something.
