It took me a long, long time to find what works for me. If I learned one thing (I'm 18) it's this: Do not, not, NOT beat your poor face to death with harsh, rough cleansers and treatments. Your facial skin is very sensitive and for years I went by the "the stronger, the better" philosophy when it came to clearing acne. And in the end, what works for me?

Treating my skin like a baby's. PAMPER your skin, girl. You probably don't even need medicine, you're so young. If you want some though, I'd go for the homeopathic (natural) kind. I use Nature's Cure chewable pills (and it even comes with 5% benzoyl peroxide cream- totally the right amount!) and it works great on me.

For me, I use a gentle, natural soap on my face twice a day. It's not specifically meant for your face, but it's just so nice and cleansing and it does its job. The less complicated chemicals in it, the better! Then, find a non-alcoholic toner that you swab on your face with a cotton ball to get rid of excess oil and makeup. I use this after I wash. Finally, use an oil-free moisturizer on your face twice a day. I don't care HOW oily your skin is (and believe me, I was and am a walking GREASEBALL), moisturizer is the best. It keeps your skin so soft and healthy and keeps your pores from releasing excess oils-which in turn helps prevent pimples.

Once you do all that, then spot-treat with acne cream if you think you need it. In my opinion, benzoyl peroxide is the best. Use 5% or lower of the medicine so it won't dry out your skin. Irritated skin gets more pimples!

And don't listen to the jerks telling you to eat less chocolate and whatever. I ate the healthiest diet possible and still got acne since I was twelve years old. Now I'm 18 with gorgeous skin and the occasional zit. But hey, we can't have it all, right?

Hope this helps!

I suggest Isocol ( Isopropyl Alcohol) Its cheap and inexpensive and really affective.

STOP THE CHOCOLATE

well 1st off you shouldn't be mixing different face washes with different lotions.
Try GARNIER FRUCTIS Acne Breakage Care Cream Long & Hard (leave in) meaning you don't wash it off.

Proactiv Solution. It is a little pricey, but seems to work. Google it and you can get on the website.

im on tazorac and minocycline.

ive heard that it wont really show results until 3 months after you start taking it. and it does get worse before it gets better. just stick it out, one day your skin [and mine] will be clear. your lucky youre only 13. im 16 and most people have already gone through acne so im like the only one with it really bad still.

youll get through it. i promise. =]

Try Dermologica products. You'll probably have to order them off the internet or find a salon that carries it. It's a professional line but plenty of people use it at home.Don't get Proactiv. Yes, when you start using it you will see results but after awhile your body will adjust to it and the product stops working. Dermologica has products for all different skin types.

You say you have oily skin, so you should definitely buy an exfolilator. Your skin is exfoliating naturally so you should exfoliate twice a week. Other basic face products, cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.

Another good line is Dr. Dennis Gross's MDskincare. I use the cleanser/toner. This is a commonly used line. I've never heard any bad feedback from it. On the website for it all the products are organized by skin type and condition.

Eat less greasy food & chocolate.

What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

P.S. I also know someone who used to suffer from severe acne for 14 YEARS and finally got rid of it completely. She's sharing her story at her site:
