These so-called 'winter vomiting' viruses - how are they contracted?!

Question: I am interested to know as I have just been in hospital for 2 and a half days being rehydrated after catching one (don't know which yet - waiting for test results)

I am now very paranoid about getting ill again and want to know are they airbourne? Is it from touching people/ surfaces that are infected? My partner has not caught it and I don't know if anyone at work has it or has had it.

Does anyone know how they are contracted and what steps can be taken to avoid them?

They're not airbourne, but can be picked up from surfaces that have the virus on them if you eat or touch your mouth after you touch them. It's recommended that you wash your hands before you eat if someone in your house has the bug.
It's not that likely you'll catch it again though, especially if the virus isn't travelling around your friends and family.

i think we are all Guinea pigs for the mad scientists who just want to measure the effects of releasing an air born virus baby!
call me mad if you like, but is it not possible,.

you poor thing! You can catch it from pretty much anywhere but the good news is that as you have already had it, you are unlikely to get the same bug again. I had this just before Christmas and I still can't get the thought out of my head!

my daughter caught is at nursery, and then passed it onto me and everyone else we came into contact with. I don't think you can avoid catching it.

water droplet infection
can be spread by surface contact
person to person
or airborne, coughs and sneezes
glad your a bit better
