Have you ever contracted genital herpes from your partners cold sore?!

Question: Yes, unfortunately it is very common - 50-70% of genital herpes infections are now caught through receiving oral sex from a partner with oral herpes.

I caught genital herpes from a partner that gets cold sores, as did my sister and a friend of mine. My boyfriend infected me when he didn't have a cold sore - you can occasionally be infectious when you don't have one too.

If he doesn't have symptoms in a week, he should be fine.

It is possible he also has the cold sore virus, given that 8 out of 10 men do. If he does, he is very unlikely to catch it on his genitals from your cold sore.

i dont believe you can. even though cold sores and genital herpes are related diseases, i dont think you can catch one from having the other. now distinguishing if your partner had a cold sore or actually has herpes is another subject. make sure he didnt actually have herpes.

yes you can. it is common. look up herpes in wikipedia.org, there is some good and helpful information that will help you answer some questions regarding herpes.

No, and from a medical point of view...A cold sore is the Herpes virus type A. You CAN get genital herpes from a cold sore. You can also spread it from one person to another by kissing. If you think you might have contracted it go to your OB/GYN and get in under control. Be careful!
