1. I was showing symptoms for about a month before I was diagnosed. I didnt really think much of it though because the symptoms weren't really noticable enough. then a week or 2 before I was diagnosed the symptoms got a lot worse, so I went to the doctor, had some blood drawn, and 30-45 minutes later the doctor showed me the number 630mg/dl (this was my blood sugar, the normal blood sugar should be aprox. 70-110mg/dl) on a piece of paper and said I was diabetic

2. I lost a ton of weight....I went from 150lbs to 107lbs in a month (I was about 5'6" at that time). I was constantly thirsty...I could drink 40oz of water in 10 minutes and still feel super thirsty. I had frequent urination...I'd go 4-5 times a night, and about every hour during the day. I was always tired....it felt like I was never getting enough sleep even though I could sleep for 12 hours. I lost my appetite...usually its the other way around (extreme hunger). I had blurry vision...this was one of my last symptoms.

3. I take 2 kinds of insulin. 1 shot of Lantus (fast acting) a day. 4-6 shots of Novolog (short acting) a day. the Novolog I have to take with every meal.

4. I can hardly put any food in my mouth without worrying about how it could affect my blood sugar.

Diagnosed 1990. Had weight gain, excessive thirst and headaches.
I use an insulin pump to control.
Diabetes takes over your entire life day to day you can not go a day without thinking about it and taking care of it

1 I used a friends blood test kit
2. dry mouth, horrible eye sight
3. i take 2 types of insulin and then diet
4. ritenopathy, neuropathy and much more.

I was hypoglycemic when I was young. The Drs told me then that I would more than likely become diabetic as I grew older.
I didn't believe it, but it happened. I had it for a long while but I didn't know it. It got to the point that when I ate I felt bad. Very tired, and my eyes bothered me a lot. Just didn't feel well.
My Dr did test and I am type 2. I went on the type of diet that
I needed to and lost weight. I take very good care of myself, and so far I take no medication. I keep my weight down and I feel well.

hi

I had stomach cramps and a temperature, so i was sweating had headaches, i went to the doctor and a quick blood test showed very high sugar levels in my blood, then a more complex blood test confirmed it. I HAve type 2 Diabetes

2. if my sugar levels are too gigh or low, i get nauseaus, headaches, trembly and tired, i need to eat regular small meals to avoid this.

3.i take mediaction twice a day, also exercise and watching what i eat helps.

4.Diabetes is hopefully controllable like the doctors advise, so at the momemt since i am newly diagnosed, i need to get into the regime of 5 small meals a day, taking the meds without forgetting, and giving up alot of stuff i am addicted to like sweetened coffee, sugar sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks, desserts................mmm its a hard life..............:)

I went to see the doctor as I was loosing weight inspite of eating well. Also has developed intense itching all over the body and more so in genital area. Also had very dry mouth.Fasting blood suggest blood sugar was 11 mmol/l that is 198 mg%.Advised diet control and execise. Not much improvement so started on tablets which is controlling well.I cant eat any thing as I used to and it is a pain when I go out for dinner. Also I have to explain everybody that I am a diabetic.

Type 1 diabetic

1. i was sick for like month and peeing a lot, drinking alot, and one night i kept passing out. went to the ER and they told me i had diabetes.

2. * Frequent urination * Excessive thirst * Extreme hunger
* Unusual weight loss * Increased fatigue * Irritability
* Blurry vision

3. i used to be on insulin 3 times a day, but now i take glipizide.

4. it doesn't effect me as long as i diet, exercise, and check my blood glucose daily.

1. Diagnosed 1984
2. No complications as of yet, briefly had a microalbuminuria diagnosis in 2002, went away after I went on an insulin pump.
3. Insulin pump and blood glucose checks 6-8x daily, moderate exercise and watch my diet, but I eat all kinds of foods in moderation
4. I wish I could have a break from it! You have to be vigilant at all times to make sure BG does not go high or low and when it does, make corrections as needed. Stress and depression from possible complications down the road, but I've had it for 24 years now.
