I have calcium deposits in my left lung....?!

Question: I had an x-ray done and on the left my diaphram was higher. Went for a cat scan and it showed calcium deposits. I was told bascially scar tissue from previous infections..which I have had pneumonia 3 times. I am concerned that this could lead to something else yet my dr. said it is harmless but have it checked in 6 months for any changes. Anyone with information please respond.......Thank you :)

It sounds lilke your doctor was being forthcoming with you. With three prior pneumonias scarring and calcification is not unexpected. The CT scan is pretty good in screening for cancer so you can be reassured in that. The doctor is being cautious in that changing xray shadows that appear to be scar tissue might be a warning for further investigation. This a remote possibility however if evertything else appears normal I wouldn't worry about it.

Well Sassy....cute name..
you probably have a deposit from a previous respiratory infection. Most common problem. Contact your doctor for an xray and voice your concerns. Tell him if you are pregnant. If you are having cardiac pain of any sorts...go see a doctor...
and have that checked out. No smoking tobacco or other substances...

There are medications that dissolve the calcium

it is not a serious condition...
