Any soap will kill germs, and all of it does. You heard wrong. Antibacterial soaps may work slightly faster, but not any better if you actually take the time to wash your hands properly. For the most part, they are just a way to bump up the price of soap. You don't transmit things on a bar of soap anyway- not HIV or anything else, so sharing a bar of soap is not a problem. You give a lot more strength to gerbies than they actually have there. The HIV virus is actually one of the most fragile, and the rest just don't stand a chance living on a bar of soap. So just use whatever soap you happen to have. As long as you wash up properly, and take care where you put the rest of you inbetween washups, you are just fine.

First, soap destroys bacteria and viruses ie germs. It causes them to break or burst. (kinda fun to watch under a microscope).

So to answer the question, does antibacterial soap only kill bacteria, No. It kills bacteria, viruses, many fungi and some parasites. Most soap does. It's only the really tough ones that regular soap doesn't kill.

It's really hard to catch anything off of a bar of soap. It's too caustic to allow most microscopic organisms to live on/in it. They don't say "doesn't kill germs" on soap labels, because it does kill germs.

Hope that helps.

ok, AIDS can not live for very long outside of the body. It needs specific things to live like warm temp and it's contracted by having unprotected sex (when body fluids are exchanged) or blood transfusion. Soap does kill germs, the best defense for anyone not to get sick is to wash your hands. I deal with sick and dieing people everyday and have been for many years. I have not contracted HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis, chicken pox, shingles, TB, scabies or any other communicable disease and i am a firm believer that it is because i wash my hands before and after every patient. Wash your hands with soap, even if you don't believe it kills germs at least it's good hygiene.
