I used to get them ALL the time! Breath in deeply through your nose into your stomach and lay down. Give yourself some "positive" internal dialogue, you probably been overthinking the depression and making yourself panicky. Your body WILL react to your thoughts. Tell yourself that there is nothing wrong with you right now, you are fine. Think of something exciting coming up for you or something awesome that you want to do...watch a funny movie even...this will continue to happen so long as you overthink/focus on bad thoughts...your body is engaging in a "flight/fight" panic reaction when there really isn't one because of what your mind is telling it. RELAX! You are fine and ok...

Take long deep breaths, close your eyes and relax.

maybe it is not a panic attack maybe a heart problem
see a doctor then deside

I doubt very much it is a panic attack if you are able to type this question and share it with all.....

phone some one for help a friend.

take deep breathes until you feel calm.
i think its better if u went to a doctor to get a check up. just to be on the safe side.

Panic attacks can be very scarey & the first thing you think of is Oh I'm having a heart attack! First take stock of the situation & relax........ breathe in and out slowly...very slowly...it may take a while for you to notice the 'panic' easing but it will. Try to think rationally & it will go away......I've experienced a panic attack & felt that I was about to die.... shakey, sweatty, cant breathe.... but I tried to keep calm & it went away.

I get them too. Shallow breathing/tight chest and anxiety. You have to breathe and don't focus on it. The more you think about it, the worse it will get. You need an outlet for your stress, like exercise. Sleep helps too. Watch what you eat so it doesn't get your blood pressure up. You will be fine.

Panic attacks often appear after depression . Try and relax and keep your mind occupied . If you find them a problem you should go to your doctor. They can help you find a solution whether its tablets or maybe relaxation classess. Good luck.

janey,
the traditional response in the A&E is very simple...
Sit quietly on a chair, feet on the floor,
and HOLDING A PAPER BAG OVER YOUR NOSE MOUTH AND CHIN BREATH SLOWLY AND DEEPLY.

Basically this counteracts the imbalance of CO2 and Oxygen which causes most of the symptoms you've described.

Check back.

i can't imagine it would be an actual panic attack as i think the last thing on my mind would be "i think i'll have a little play on the computer"

Hey Janey, try to relax. The advice from Jamie B is good, however if still same tomorrow, go see doc. Try and get get a goodnights' sleep.

Take a sleeping pill. It'll knock you out and when you wake up in the morning you'll feel better. Or, failing that...

(By the way, this works whatever your religious preferences)

Breathe slowly and deeply and close your eyes. Picture a woman walking toward you. This woman is a warrior angel. She is beautiful and strong and she will support you through your fear.
She takes you by the hand and leads you away from the dark place you are in and into a tunnel. At the end of the tunnel is a beautiful golden light.
As you emerge from the tunnel, the angel lets go of your hand. The light is blinding you, and she vanishes into the light, but her strength becomes yours, and you win the struggle with your panic.
Then you open your eyes and find yourself in your own home. Breathe slowly and deeply once more.

I know it sounds a little bit like a load of crap, but seriously, just picture this in your mind. It almost always helps.

I used to get panic attacks ALL the time. I got anixity. You probably suffer from manic depression and aniexty. You should go to a phycatrist and get medication for it. It has helped me alot. Also watching funny shows has helped me too. And you do need sleep so if your not sleeping good you really should try harder. It is hard. I was at the point where I wouldn't go out because I lived in such a bad neighborhood I was afraid someone was gonna kill me even when I moved to a nicer area I still suffered from it and wouldn't go out so I went on medication and that really helped me. Now im not afraid of nothing. So you should make an appointment to go see a phycatrist and get yourself help. Also with the phone talking does help so you should see a counsler. Good luck and I hope all is well!
