What was the first STD?!

Question: I am curious as to what the first STD is, and how it was formed? Also, I want to know where, geographically, do you think it began.

Actually, there have been cases of STDs that were recorded hundreds of years ago. It was most likely formed through some sort of contagious genetic mutation that was transferred through sexual intercourse. Reports of syphilis date back to 1600s during American Colonization. Although it is likely that this is where it originated, it shows that they have been around for a while. Gonorrhea is also very prevalent when it comes to STDs. There are reports that date this STD back to the biblical ages. The bible actually describes a disease similar to the symptoms of gonorrhea which consist of vaginal discharge, difficulty urinating (dysuria), off-cycle menstrual bleeding, or bleeding after sexual intercourse. It also describes a disease that causes little dysuria or pus in males. These are the exact symptoms in males with gonorrhea.

This shows that STDs have been among us for hundreds, even thousands of years, and with promiscuity being such a problem in the United States, they're here to stay :)

impossible to trace since we are talking about soft tissue which would not be observable, besides primitive humans date back over two million years

Syphilis was in the 15th century.

I always thought it was syphilis caused from men f***ing animals, specifically sheep

There is archaeological evidence of syphilis dating back to the ancient Greeks (Hippocrates seemed to have described tertiary syphilis) and there is a competing theory that the New World explorers brought syphilis back with them around 1492. Yaws, a related infection, caused by a similar bacterium has been around for 1.5 million years. Chancres, another STD has also been around for some time. Ditto for Gonorrhoea, since it has a bacterial agent causing it, would probably be also very old in origin. Finally, yeast infections, which can be sexually transmitted, would also be likely candidates for the oldest STD (Candida).
