Patrick Swayze and smoking a cig with pancreatic cancer?!

Question: AND SO WHAT???? What difference does it make? What do you think about this? Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers out there -- a 6 month life as a rule after being diagnosed so he doesn't have long to live. The fact that he's smoking a cigarette? So what?????
My father had lung cancer and he WAS on his deathbed. He was almost gone -- in and out of a coma and he sounded like he wanted something and I asked him "dad, what do you want?" and he JUST wanted a couple drags off a cigarette -- it wasn't going to kill him any faster OR sooner......
The media is taking something horrible and making it WORSE.....nothing new.
What is your opinion?

They always do , a very close relative of mine died last year he was given three months to live , he had been smoking most of his adult life ,but he carried on smoking because he thought it would be worse to give up at that point because his body was so used to it . He lived for 15 months after his diagnosis, being in and out of hospital for most of that time on the good days thats all he had to look forward too . Who are we to judge people , theres an old saying " walk a mile in my shoes" , i think the media should back off and let patrick and his family deal with this the best way they can and if that means having a smoke so be it !!

I want to know who was criticizing him for smoking. No one I have heard. I hope this wasn't a tabloid item, but it sure sounds like it. They always attack the ill with any ammo they can get hold of.

Peace

gawd just let him be already, by the looks of his face on the cover of people mag he has had a rough time with this cancer thing

Having him quit smoking now would likely speed up his death. By restricting his tobacco intake at this point would be harder on his immune system by denying the dependence of tobacco. Mentally he would be even more depressed than with the cancer itself. Quitting smoking is very difficult in a healthy person, one who is fighting for his life, facing death, and not getting his 'fix' would be devastating to him.
Now in saying that, if he thought he might be able to beat his cancer, smoking would drop his chances as it deprives his good cells of much needed oxygen.. I would agree that it is his choice.

Pray for him.
