Everyone hears about it and sees it on tv stds?!

Question: You hear about these std all the time whether from your friends, on tv, visit to the doc, and etc. And you say that will never happen to me. But when it does what do you do? Besides go the doc? I mean how do u cope? How do u tell friends, family, and ppl u love? I know its a wierd question but its like u wish u could go back in time and be more safe u know?

I thought it would never happen to me and when I found out I was seriously pissed off big time! First thing I did was go online and learn as much as possible about my condition. Then I sought out other people who were in the same position I was and talked to them about everything. Then I took medication for it, and now I could care less. I only told two of my friends at the time and two of my closest family members. I just got up and told them and that was it. What can they say other then they're sorry you have it or tell you about other people they know who have it as well.
I do wish I could have been more safe or less stupid but if I could go back in time that would not be the first and most important thing in my life I would change. I have had genital herpes for 9 years now and got it at 16. Alot of people have STD's you'd be surprised it's just not something everyone likes to talk about.
If you have any questions or need someone to talk to, feel free to email me

no i don.t really wish i could go back and time and be more safe.........luckily i have only had one std and it was the kind that could be cured w/antibiotic......i didn.t tell anyone other than the guy who gave it to me........so, ur probably asking about people who have the permanent ones........

i'm so sorry if this has happened to you. it's very hard to come terms dealing with a chronic disease. these types of things can completely alter your life. you must find out as much as possible about it, and think it through before you tell everyone. your dr or a med prof can help or at least offer some advice on how to tell them. i know that you're worried about what everyone think and feel, but do realise that this could come as a shock to everyone too. it may take sometime to come to terms with for everyone b/c depending on what you have, it will be very traumatic. i will pray for you and that your family and loved ones support you. do remeber that you must be honest also on how you got this disease too.
