Well the symptoms are pretty similar with weakness, bladder incontinence etc but the basic difference is that M.S. is a gradual process with remissions and exacerbations in between whereas with nerve damage and nerve compressions is pretty much a steady or progressively worsening state unless the compression is relieved. Also in investigations changes of M.S can be seen in the brain.
