Home HIV Test?!

Question: There is a test that you could take a home, and it says to prick your finger to get a blood sample. But I'm a bit afraid to prick my finger. I was wondering if there was another spot on the body to get a blood sample or than the finger. Is there a reason why you're to prick your finger? It's still the correct blood sample no matter what part of the body it comes from, right?

I do HIV testing and when I run a test similar to what you are talking about it is easiest to clean the finger, prick it with the Lanette, draw a drop of blood, using a gauze wipe to blood away and the press again to get a few drops of blood for the collection.

BUT I would suggest going to a clinic or HIV/AIDS service organization to get tested, some have a test that you run a paddle across your gum in your mouth and can get the necessary sample. And these places are usually free, and totally confidential.

It shouldn't matter. Your blood is the same throughout your body.
