Persistent bad throat for 3 eeks despite 3 rounds of antibiotics?!
Question: The problem first started during 26 feb 08,i woke up feeling ill,i had fever and a sore throat.(no other symptoms like runny nose)Sometimes,the phelgm has a little blood in it.
On the 28th,i went to doctor who prescribed me antibiotic(red/yellow capsule),a cough syrup(those brown/black kind ,(i took 2 bottles already),sore throat lozenges(MAC lozenges),fever medicine(which i never take as on 26/27 i took panadol )
I took her medicine and never feel better despite having two bottles of cough syrup and finished the antibiotics.
On 9/3/08 , i changed to another doctor,he then gave me another antibiotic(Crixan) , throat swelling pill(Neuflo?) ,Menthol lozenges and a cough syrup for dry cough.
Till now, i still got uncomfortable throatPhelgm has very minimal traces of red stuff..My doctor gave me a third round of antibiotics(EES),and throat swelling medicine.I am hoping it will heal soon.
An yone has the same experience as me??

I am not a doctor so I probably cannot give you the BEST answer, but something similar in a miniscule way happened to me at the end of last year.
I had strep throat and was given an antibiotic. I took it, cleared up and felt fine until I got to the end of my antibiotic. The strep returned. I got the prescription from the health clinic where I went to school so when I came home for Christmas break, I went to my real doctor and she told me that what I was perscribed wasn't strong enough.
Maybe you're being given too weak of antibiotics. Maybe get a second opinion from another doctor?

You more than likely have a viral infection and not a bacterial one, thus why antibiotics aren't helping. Bacterial physiology and virology are very different. Antibiotics will only help a bacterial infection. There are nasty viruses out there, that make you feel aweful.
