Just been diagnosed with herpes & looking up the cures on the net. do they reall!

Question: sorry - NO CURE..... but lots & lots of treatments!

Ones I've found that were a fraud: (based on MY opinion!)
1) herpesmiracle.com - Kevin says eat right, exercise, avoid stress & have a positive attitude....uh - NO SHI**T!!!
2) HBalm - it's oil-based and I've found that anything with OIL will irritate my skin & trigger an outbreak - so HBalm triggered an outbreak!

Remedies that DID work!!! (very exciting stuff)
1) L-Lysine supplements - take 500mg/day....and up that to 1000mg every time you eat when you feel an outbreak coming - or have an outbreak....also read that chewing them makes them absorb quicker
2) rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer - rub it on the area if you feel an outbreak coming (feel tingling or itching)
3) Abreva - a little dab a few time the FIRST day of an outbreak (oral or genital) will help kill the virus - but only day one - it'll keep it gooey after the virus is killed & not promote healing of the sore (needs to dry out & scab)
4) hydrogen peroxide - helps dry up the sore
5) salt water - helps dry up the sore

And don't feel you have to resort to those "herpes dating sites" - two people with herpes who date each other usually dwell on the negative - and sex with someone with an outbreak (because you'll feel safe doing that - no doubt) will TRIGGER an outbreak....when I tried it - I found that we both had a constant outbreak....
There are plenty of ways to keep a partner safe who is not infected
Do not have sex from the 1st symptom you feel - itching or tingling...until your sores dry up, scab and are back to normal skin again - there is less than a 2% possibility of giving it to someone when you don't have symptoms....but you have to stay on top of it & watch for symptoms!
I've been married over 12 years & never given it to my husband

no you can arrested it with meds like Valtrex but never cure it

no they dont. Not for cures anyway. but maybe some treatments might be helpful

I do not have first hand knowledge about this, however I think you should sway away from the "cures" you find on the net. Take the meds prescribed for you...and apparently avoid peanuts, as from what I understand can cause a breakout.

Too bad Ash, at present, it looks like you'll have it for life. Always practice safe sex.

It is a virus. There is no cure. Stick with reliable proven medical treatments only. (You can use supression drugs, etc.) but stay away from unproven "miracle" stuff. The only thing that goes away is your money.

There is no cure for herpes so don't try anything that says it can cure it. It is best that you talk to your Doctor about a suppressant therapy. You can still have a normal life, and you will be ok. You may never have an other break out. Just make sure that you protect your self and you partner next time you have sex.

don't waste your time or money! i have tried several 'cures' and none of them have worked- in fact one of them, Prunella Vulgaris, caused me to have breakouts!!!

I don't like to assume anything and you just said herpes..there are several types of herpes and places that are affected by the virus.
Herpes can not be cured but can be put back into remission. For fever blisters, also a herpes virus, is treated with pills and cream applied to the lips.
There is shingles, another herpes virus outbreak.
Genital herpes is not curable either but can be put into remission.
Ones that also have this can give you more on their life in dealing with this. It always helps to hear from them, like in a support group to learn more on that part of dealing with this.
Don't spend your money searching for online "cures", spend it talking to your doctor on the best, safest way to take care of herpes when it breaks out and safety for a partner.

ummm. There is no cure.

There are no cures for herpes. Don't despair. In many cases, herpes symptoms are relatively mild and infrequent.
Changes in diet may help prevent outbreaks -- eat foods high in Lysine (eggs, cheese, etc.), avoid Arginine (peanuts), or take a Lysine supplement. Of course, practice safer sex, which you should be doing anyway.

Yes, there is no cure for Herpes. But you can try to prevent the outbreaks. You can try some online support sites. There are many such sites. PositiveLoving.com is a good choice

idk.. i dont have herpes... but i know people that have herpes lip put hand sanitizer on it, and they go away in three hours... i think you put hand sanitizer on the blister every 20 mins... it burns, but their herpes lip goes away. I dont know if they put it on their genitals its not my place to ask... but it's worth a shot.

There is no cure for Herpes. You can suppress it with Valtrex, Famvir, or any other acyclovir product, but you will always have the disease. It will be a recurring event if you are not on meds, but as time goes by, the outbreaks will be farther and father apart. L-Lysine has been clinically shown to reduce the number of outbreaks you have, and you can get it at walmart for $2.
Dating is still possible, you just have to find a mature partner. Realize that if you get rejection (it WILL happen), they are not rejecting you, they are rejecting the disease. When explaining your situation, do not go into the conversation as though you are damaged goods. Be straightforward and honest, and speak about it from a clinical point of view. People appreciate honesty.
Be safe, learn to recognize the signs of an outbreak, so you can help stop the spread of the virus.
