Diabetic exercise?!

Question: Is there really any difference in the way a person with diabetes (insulin dependent and pills) should exercise? I'm only 33 and I would like to get into a weight training regiment as well but I am wanting to get some advice first.

Exercise is the best single way to control diabetes blood glucose levels.

Weight training is excellent burning glucose. However, you have to be careful of a high blood pressure initially.

That is why I recommend some form aerobic exercise first for at least 6 months to a year. This will build up your body to stand the stress of weight training. Then your weight train should be high rep for strength and no high weight to build up bulk.

Food for thought.

Best Wishes.

Always check with the doctor to be sure first. But normally, this is a great way to help control your disease and keep your weight down. Just start out easy. Walking is also great.

Exercise burns sugar so you have to monitor yourself and may have to adjust your meds. You should discuss this with your doctor. Sometime people can stop their meds because exercise can really help diabetes. Talk to the doctor.

Hello.

I am a diabetic type 1. I exercise just like anyone else, however I always check my blood sugar before any activities, and I make sure to carry a snack or glucose tablets incase I go into a hypoglicemia stage. I am a very good skateboarder and I've been doing it for years, diabeties has never stopped me.

If you are still uncertain please contact your doctor. =)

Ask your doctor for advice. They would be the best to tell you about diet and exercise. Or call a gym and ask for one of the trainer's. They are well qualified in that area also.

if u work out u will need less insulin because your level will drop for sure. just don't over do it and have some sweets nearby
maybe take less insulin before u work out
speak to your doctor
